Programme note:

Standing by the edge of the M6 in Lancashire, waiting. Calm; not what I would have expected. The sequence of events circling my mind incessantly seems unreal, disconnected from me, as though from a half-remembered movie. The fluke of our unscathed survival is of too great a magnitude to grasp, so I watch the crash in my mind’s eye, again and again. A strange melancholy colours everything.
