A mouse and duck set up home inside a wolf in this much-loved children’s story, which becomes a musical adventure in a world premiere from Aurora Orchestra.

‘Early one morning a mouse met a wolf and was quickly gobbled up…’ The much-loved children’s story by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen becomes a musical adventure in this world premiere for young children and families.

Published in 2018, The Wolf, the Duck and the Mouse became an instant classic of children’s literature. Author Mac Barnett’s collaboration with illustrator Jon Klassen tells the story of a mouse who is swallowed by a wolf.

But the mouse soon discovers that he’s not alone: a duck is already installed in the belly of the beast, and it turns out life inside a wolf is pretty good! There’s lots of delicious food, dancing, and of course no more fear of being gobbled up. All is well, until a hunter arrives...

Martin Suckling’s new piece for children reimagines the story as a musical adventure that introduces young children to the wonder of orchestral music and instruments.

Expect beautiful set design incorporating Jon Klassen’s instantly recognisable illustrations, lots of laughter and dancing, some fearsome howls, and sublime music-making from the players of Aurora Orchestra.

Join us as we step into the forest with the Mouse, and be ready to help the musicians as they tell the story...
