“In the first half of this concert, Marta Fontanals-Simmons and [Christopher] Glynn gave the premiere of Martin Suckling’s The Tuning, wistful settings of verbally virtuosic yet thoughtful poems by Michael Donaghy, in a lyrical arioso recitative, but always accessible, postmodernist style. I hope to hear this lovely mezzo sing them again in the near future.”
